Callie Gaines is a photographer. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati's DAAP Program in 2023 with her BFA. Gaines' artistic journey explores the impact a parent's past can have on their child's identity and how that persons choices reflect this past.
Her two main bodies of work, "It Ends with My Dad" and "All She Had Left" have been shown in exhibitions throughout Ohio and Kentucky, exploring why the limited options in her parents' upbringing had an impact on her identity. The claim of "documentation photography" with her work allows her to capture the story that is being told as she shoots. Referencing objects, emotions, and identity as whole in each photograph.
